About

Hi, I’m jessica Smith.

Hey!! I’m Jessica Smith. The owner and “JS” behind JS Creations. I’m a 19 year old college student living in Poplarville, MS. I started photography in November of 2019 with no intentions of doing anything serious with it. I got the chance to use the beginning of 2020 to learn so many amazing things about photography and shot my first rodeo in March of 2020 right before COVID 19 locked down all the events.

Even after March and once rodeos began again, I still wasn’t sure if rodeo photography is what I was meant to do. To be quite honest, it’s not an easy thing to do. Portraits always felt “easier.” However, I do love a good challenge so I decided to stick with photographing a local youth rodeo around once a month and learning more at each show.

In June of 2020, I got to shoot the Mississippi High School Rodeo Finals alongside with another photographer and at that point I was hooked. I felt like I finally knew what I was doing with my camera and gear, and was finally getting some great images. Between July and December of 2020 I shot a total of 15 rodeos, 2 barrel races, and 4 breakaway ropings.

I’m always looking for new producers or associations to work with so please reach out to me if you’d like more information on JS Creations photographing your event!
